The tasks needed for attending CNSI's Technician Cleanroom Training class is below.

Signing Up for Online Safety Review

The online safety review must be completed before arrival at the facility.
  1. Register at the CC-PRIME Portal
    1. Check the box for “Cleanroom Training Experience
  2. Get a UCSB NetID.
    1. Send CNSI Staff your (1) First Name, (2) Last Name & (3) Date of Birth for this.
    2. We will give you an access code called an "Annex ID"
  3. Go to https://im.ucsb.edu
    • click on 'manage identity'
    • click on 'university affiliate'
    • Use your "Annex ID" & Date of Birth to complete the form
  4. Let CNSI Staff know your UCSBNetID, so they can sign you up for the Lab Safety class in UC eLearning.
    1. Email Demis & Rachel with your chosen UCSBNetID.
    2. TIMING: Let us know the UCSBNetID as soon as possible, as we can only sign you up the next day after you create your ID.
    3. Staff will assign the "Fundamentals of Lab Safety to you in eLearning.
  5. Take the Fundamentals of Lab Safety online training.
    1. You should have received an email to enroll in UC Learning Center. Follow the instructions in that email to access the learning center, or:
      1. Go to the UC Leanring Center at : http://learningcenter.ucsb.edu
    2. Select "Find a Course"
    3. Search: by typing in “Fundamentals Laboratory Safety“,
      1. Choose the Online version, which may be named "INITIAL"
    4. Then go to “Select”, then “Register”
  6. Review safety docs for the CNSI Cleanroom:
    1. Link to video
    2. Link to PDF doc
  7. Take the safety Quiz:

Attire for In-Person Cleanroom Access

There are some dress-requirements for accessing the cleanroom - both for safety and comfort. You will wear a full coverall "bunny suit" over your street clothes.

    • Closed toed shoes (No sandals, flip-flops etc)
    • ¿ Pants/trousers, no dresses (in order to cover with cleanroom gown)
    • ¿ Small jewelry is acceptable, not too large for coveralls/cleanroom gown (in order to put cleanroom hood over the head).
